The All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education. AIIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2019 – 

  • Candidates seeking admission to MBBS courses in the AIIMS institutes across the country must check the AIIMS MBBS 2019 eligibility criteria.

AIIMS MBBS 2019 will be conducted on May 25 and 26, for admission to a total of 1,207 MBBS seats offered at 15 AIIMS institutes located in New Delhi, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Guntur, Jodhpur, Nagpur, Patna, Raipur, Rishikesh, Gorakhpur, Raebareli, Kalyani, Bathinda, Deogarh and Bibinagar (Telangana).

The final registration for application form of AIIMS MBBS 2019 has started from February 22 to March 12, in online mode, for candidates who have generated their codes. The authority has uploaded the status of the basic registration form. To check the status, the candidates are required to use their login credentials.

AIIMS MBBS 2019 Eligibility Criteria – Academic Qualification

  • As mentioned earlier, students should have passed Class 12 under the 10+2 scheme/senior school certificate examination (CBSE) or Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination from a recognised University/Board from any state with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subject
  • Candidates who will be appearing for Class 10+2 board examination in the year 2019 are also eligible to apply for the medical entrance examination.
  • Candidates who have or are appearing at the qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and expect to pass the examination with the qualifying percentile as mentioned below are eligible for the test, provided they have submitted the document of passing the qualifying examination with the required subjects and percentile
  • Aspirants who will possess the equivalent examination passing certificate as the eligible academic qualifying, s/he must furnish a certificate from the concerned Indian University/Association of Indian Universities to the effect that the examination passed by them is considered eligible equivalent to Class 12 under 10+2 scheme/immediate science examination

AIIMS MBBS 2019 Eligibility Criteria – Minimum marks secured

The minimum aggregate of the marks secured in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology obtained in the qualifying examination for various categories are as follows:

AIIMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria 2019 – Nationality 

Candidates of Indian nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Foreign Nationals are also eligible to apply for AIIMS MBBS.

AIIMS MBBS 2019 Eligibility Criteria for OCIs, NRIs and Foreign Nationals

For OCI and NRIs: The OCI registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 and NRIs are also eligible to appear for the entrance test. The terms and conditions applicable to the Indian Nationals will also be applicable to these applicants. Candidates need to submit proof of registration as an OCI under Section 7A to b eligible for the test.

For Foreign Nationals: Apart from the total seats, 7 seats are reserved for foreign nationals in AIIMS, New Delhi only. Such aspirants will be nominated by the Government of India and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their Immediate Science or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to MBBS course in AIIMS institute. For admission, foreign candidates need to contact the Indian Mission/Post abroad in their country and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi for the nomination. The admission to foreign nationals will not be granted on the basis of AIIMS MBBS scores.

AIIMS MBBS Exam Pattern: AIIMS conducts a single computer-based (online) entrance exam for UG aspirants seeking admission to MBBS courses. The exam is conducted on a national level at specific institutes enlisted under AIIMS.

UNIT I: Electrostatics

  • Electric charges and their conservation. Coulomb’s law-force between two point charges, forces between multiple charges; superposition principle and continuous charge distribution.
  • Electric field, electric field due to a point charge, electric field lines; electric dipole, electric field due to a dipole; torque on a dipole in a uniform electric field.
  • Electric flux, statement of Gauss’s theorem and its applications to find field due to infinitely long straight wire, uniformly charged infinite plane sheet and uniformly charged thin spherical shell (field inside and outside)
  • Electric potential, potential difference, electric potential due to a point charge, a dipole and system of charges: equipotential surfaces, electrical potential energy of a system of two point charges and of electric diploes in an electrostatic field.
  • Conductors and insulators, free charges and bound charges inside a conductor. Dielectrics and electric polarization, capacitors and capacitance, combination of capacitors in series and in parallel, capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor with and without dielectric medium between the plates, energy stored in a capacitor, Van de Graaff generator.

UNIT II: Current Electricity

  • Electric current, flow of electric charges in a metallic conductor, drift velocity and mobility, and their relation with electric current; Ohm’s law, electrical resistance, V-I characteristics (linear and non-linear), electrical energy and power, electrical resistivity and conductivity.
  • Carbon resistors, colour code for carbon resistors; series and parallel combinations of resistors; temperature dependence of resistance.
  • Internal resistance of a cell, potential difference and emf of a cell, combination of cells in series and in parallel.
  • Kirchhoff’s laws and simple applications. Wheatstone bridge, Meter Bridge.

UNIT III: Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism

  • Concept of magnetic field, Oersted’s experiment. Biot-Savart law and its application to current carrying circular loop.
  • Ampere’s law and its applications to infinitely long straight wire, straight and toroidal solenoids. Force on a moving charge in uniform magnetic and electric fields. Cyclotron.
  • Force on a current-carrying conductor in a uniform magnetic field. Force between two parallel current-carrying conductors-definition of ampere. Torque experienced by a current loop in a magnetic field; moving coil galvanometer-its current sensitivity and conversion to ammeter and voltmeter.

UNIT IV: Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents

  • Electromagnetic induction; Faraday’s law, induced emf and current; Lenz’s Law, Eddy currents. Self and mutual inductance.

UNIT VI: Optics

  • Reflection of light, spherical mirrors, mirror formula. Refraction of light, total internal reflection and its applications optical fibres, refraction at spherical surfaces, lenses, thin lens formula, lens-maker’s formula. Magnification, power of a lens, combination of thin lenses in contact combination of a lens and a mirror. Refraction and dispersion of light through a prism.
  • Scattering of light- blue colour of the sky and reddish appearance of the sun at sunrise and sunset.
  • Optical instruments: Human eye, image formation and accommodation, correction of eye defects (myopia and hypermetropia) using lenses.

UNIT VII: Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation

  • Photoelectric effect, Hertz and Lenard’s observations; Einstein’s photoelectric equation- particle nature of light.
  • Matter waves-wave nature of particles, de Broglie relation. Davisson-Germer experiment (experimental details should be omitted; only conclusion should be explained).

NIT VIII: Atoms and Nuclei

  • Alpha- particle scattering experiments; Rutherford’s model of atom; Bohr model, energy levels, hydrogen spectrum. Composition and size of nucleus, atomic masses, isotopes, isobars; isotones.
  • Radioactivity-alpha, beta and gamma particles/ rays and their properties decay law. Mass-energy relation, mass defect; binding energy per nucleon and its variation with mass number, nuclear fission and fusion.

UNIT IX: Electronic Devices

  • Energy bands in solids (qualitative ideas only), conductors, insulators and semiconductors; semiconductor diode- I-V characteristics in forward and reverse bias, diode as a rectifier; I-V characteristics of LED, photodiode, solar cell, and Zener diode; Zener diode as a voltage regulator. Junction transistor, transistor action, characteristics of a transistor; transistor as an amplifier (common emitter configuration) and oscillator. Logic gates (OR, AND, NOT, NAND and NOR). Transistor as a switch.

UNIT I: Solid State

  • Classification of solids based on different binding forces; molecular, ionic covalent and metallic solids, amorphous and crystalline solids (elementary idea), unit cell in two dimensional and three dimensional lattices, calculation of density of unit cell, packing in solids, packing efficiency, voids, number of atoms per unit cell in a cubic unit cell, point defects, electrical and magnetic properties, Band theory of metals, conductors, semiconductors and insulators.

UNIT II: Solutions

  • Types of solutions, expression of concentration of solutions of solids in liquids, solubility of gases in liquids, solid solutions, colligative properties- relative lowering of vapour pressure, Raoult’s law, elevation of boiling point, depression of freezing point, osmotic pressure, determination of molecular masses using colligative properties abnormal molecular mass. Van Hoff factor.

UNIT III: Electrochemistry

  • Redox reactions, conductance in electrolytic solutions, specific and molar conductivity variation of conductivity with concentration, kohlrausch’s Law, electrolysis and Laws of electrolysis (elementary idea), dry cell- electrolytic cells and Galvanic cells; lead accumulator, EMF of a cell, standard electrode potential, Relation between Gibbs energy change and EMF of a cell, fuel cells; corrosion.

UNIT IV: Chemical Kinetics

  • Rate of a reaction (average and instantaneous), factors affecting rates of reaction; concentration, temperature, catalyst; order and molecularity of a reaction; rate law and specific rate constant, integrated rate equations and half-life (only for zero and first order reactions); concept of collision theory ( elementary idea, no mathematical treatment). Activation energy, Arrhenious equation.

UNIT V: Surface Chemistry
